He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Anderson Murphree and Mary Anne Murphree (Barlow); and his siblings, Buel Murphree, Larry Murphree, Nellie Yount and Lucille Rudrow.

He is survived by: his wife Freida; his daughter Gina Tomaszewski (Christoper); and his granddaughters, Callie and Katie. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
