She was predeceased by: her parents, Manuel Rovins and Mae Rovins; and her husband Morton Balon. She is survived by: her children, Leonard Balon (Robin) of Scottsdale, Ronni Markwell (Kenneth) of Lombard and Linda Balon Stein (Michael) of Gaithersburg, Maryland; and her sister Ruby Zack of Edison. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.
A shiva was held on Monday, January 27th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Stein Residence.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Joan can be made to the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington.
