He was predeceased by: his parents, Sarah Ethel (LeCompte) of Rock Hall and Robert E. Townsend, Sr. of Rock Hall; his sisters, Doris Rebecca Swan, Gertrude Evelyn Berry, Ethel Grace Mehan, Roberta June Byerly and Helen Burgess; and his son Randy Lee Townsend.
He is survived by: his wife Lois of Chestertown; his brother Marion Townsend (Ellen) of Chestertown; his children, Robert Danny Townsend (Brenda) and Lou Ann Hummer (Jim) of Severna Park; and his grandchildren, Joshua Townsend (Jackie), Amber Siever (Chad), Rebecca Freeland (Michael), Emily Spivey (Chris Smith), Robert E. Townsend, IV (Hellen) and Lukas Hummer. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be sent in his memory to Wesley Chapel Cemetery Fund, Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church at the address above, or to Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Company at 21500 Rock Hall Ave/PO Box 577, Rock Hall, MD 21661.
