He was predeceased by: his parents, George Montgomery and Marion Ryan Montgomery; and his sister Margaret Ann "Peggy" Montgomery. He is survived by: his wife Ann Schwartz Montgomery; his children, Andrew of San Diego, Ben (Katy) of San Diego, Mary Kate of San Diego and Rose (Matt) of Havertown, PA; his grandson Tyler James of San Diego; and his siblings, Marianne Doyle (Ken) of Ellijay, GA and George Montgomery (Kim) of Ridgely, MD. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
