He is survived by: his wife Betty Shaffer Higgs; his children, Dirk Henderson Higgs (Stacy) and Heather Higgs Kasda (Dave); his grandchildren, Thad J. Highlander, Jr. (Alexis), Jeremy D. Highlander (Shelby), Katherine B. Bradley (Nathan) and Bryce A. Gardner; his great grandchildren, Emma, Cora, Leo and Bobby; his sisters, Arleen Tarbart and Caroline Marschall; and his sister-in-law Charlene Higgs.
