He was predeceased by: his former wife Inez Prietz; and his stepson William Krider. He is survived by: his wife Phyllis A. Prietz; his children, Mikki Lewis (Glenn) of Ellicott City, MD, Ronald Prietz (Cindy) of Westminster, MD and Robert Prietz (Shirl) of Hanover, PA; his stepchildren, Mark Krider (Jeanne) of Westminster, MD, Karen Kohr (Mark) of Reisterstown, MD and Sharon Meekins (Glenn) of Finksburg, MD; and his siblings, Ronald Prietz of Baltimore, MD, Regina Prietz of Baltimore and Bertha Letrio of Baltimore. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and multiple nieces and nephews.
