He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilbur L. McGown and Goldie H. McGown; and his siblings, Phyllis Kelly and Jack McGown. He is survived by: his wife Jane McGown (Siegert); his children, Chad McGown of Sarasota, Florida, Ben Lahay (Sylvia) of Hagerstown, Maryland, Andrea Creighton (William) of Herndon, Virginia, Ed Lahay (Rose) of Reisterstown, Maryland, Michael McGown (Amanda) of Manchester, Maryland and Jenny Allender (Casey) of Upperco, Maryland.; and his sister Nellie Hudson of Pax. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Joanne and Norman Rockwell Residential Living Endowment Atten: Hackerman-Patz Patient and Family Pavilion 301 N. Broadway Baltimore, MD 21231.

“Dear all, I am so very sorry and heartbroken to lose Tom. He's been my dear friend for nearly 50 years, when i started at Hopkins and he was in the food service. He was one of the very best I've ever known. I will miss him greatly. Nothing can replace the memories of Tom with Ron Mckechnie, Dave Gordon and more. I will cherish the memory of having my assistant use her graphic arts talents to put his Golf magazine cover in a frame on Liberace's bedroom wall. God Bless Tom.. Tony Schwartz”
