He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude VanPelt and Leafie VanPelt (Smith); and his brother Ernest VanPelt. He is survived by: his children, David VanPelt of Rawlings, Douglas VanPelt (Sandra) of Martinsburg, WV, Dwayne VanPelt (Angie) of Baltimore, MD, Frederick VanPelt, Jr. of Rawlings and Rachel Whorton of Cumberland, MD; and his sister Myrtle Wineholt (VanPelt) of Rawlings. He is also survived by six grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Smith Funeral Home ~ Keyser Chapel (85 S Main St, Keyser, WV 26726). The military honors was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Maryland State Veteran's Cemetery.
