She was predeceased by: her parents, Isaiah Gordy and Goldie E. Parker Gordy; her husband Howard B. Byrd, Sr.; her siblings, Mary Magaline, Anna, Charles, Naomi, Daniel, Basheba and Martha; and her daughter Jerilynn Reid.

She is survived by: her children, Samuel M. "Sam" Reid, Luther Washington and Eunice G. Johnson. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
