It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Lorraine Merry Michel of Queenstown, Maryland, born in Jersey City, New Jersey, who passed away on September 17, 2024, at the age of 71, leaving to mourn family and friends. In the sacred silence of farewell, Lorraine Merry is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that her light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of her loved ones. She was predeceased by: her parents, Florence T. Michel and Walter F. Michel. She is survived by: her siblings, Walter G. Michel, Barbara M. Ackermann (Charles) and William R. Michel (Kristin). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

“Lorry and I started in the Big East together in 1982 doing basketball. We became very dear friends, never succumbing to the Hoya-Redmen rivalry and bad blood. Lorry and I did many USA Basketball and USOC events together including the ‘91 World University Games in England and the ‘92 Barcelona Olympic Games. Always the consumate professional, Lorry was the consumate professional. When Lorry retired she always attended the SJU games in DC where we always met. I cherish my friendship with Lorry.”
