He was predeceased by: his parents, William Thomas, Sr. and Louise Tazewell Thomas; his son Donald F. Lewis; his brothers, Edward Nelson and Alfred Thomas; and his nephew Donald Lewis, Jr..

He is survived by: his wife Ida M. Thomas; his children, Amoumd "Troy" Thomas, Curtis White (Stacy), Willett Thomas, Denise Holmes (Joseph), Jacqueline Townsend, Deborah Deshields (Hilton), Angela Hitch (Franklin) and Veronica Moore (Howard); and his siblings, Robert Thomas, Yvonne "Susie" Matthews and Patsy Thomas. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
