He was predeceased by: his parents, Dossic Hitch and Margaret Jones Gayle; his wife Lois Jones; his son William "Little Will" Jones; and his siblings, John Gayle, Robert Gayle and Virginia Butterfield.
He is survived by: his son Roland B. Jones, Jr.; his stepdaughters, Ella Hardy and Karen Carr-Cannon (Troy); and his siblings, Charles Wright (Anna), Barbara Miles (Oscar) and Dr. Joni Kindell. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; several great great grandchildren.
