He was predeceased by: his parents, Walton A. Tawes and Mae Tawes (Daniels); his wife Betty Lou Tawes; his son Walton Tawes; his sisters, Edwina Parkinson, Gloria Benton and Olive Donalds; and his brother-in-law Captain Roland Parkinson.
He is survived by: his children, Ellen Messick (Newell), Larry Tawes Jr. (Tina Louise) and David Tawes; and his grandchildren, Erich Hupke, Jr., Sean Hupke, Aaron Hupke, Jaclyn Tawes, Larry Tawes III and Jessica Tawes. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
