He was predeceased by: his parents, Weldon Oliver Nelson and Frances Olive Widdowson Nelson; his siblings, Oliver Nelson, Dorothy Murray (John), Rawlings Nelson, Mary Frances Howard and James Nelson; and his daughter Karen Nelson Thomas.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Frances Polyette Nelson; his children, Sandra Redmer (Al), Rick Nelson (Melody), Linda Bambary (Bob) and Mike Nelson (Apryl); his grandchildren, Eric Bloodsworth (Jill), John Crockett (Kelley), Chris Nelson, Sarah Nelson (Thomas Huggins), Lance Thomas (Kristen), Matthew Thomas, Joe Chelton, Kim Parker (Scott), Amber Nelson and John Michael Nelson; his great grandchildren, Elle Bloodsworth, Levi, Maggie Crockett, Alexander, Everett, Emerson Nelson, Trent, Gracie, Dylan Thomas, Charli Chelton, Trinity Otts, Dionne Bowen, Scotty Parker, Ava Nelson, Harper, Jacob Sisson and Desi Nelson; his sister Peggy Maloney (John); and his parents-in-law, Becky Nelson, Mary Nelson, Elwood Howard and Jean Nelson.
