He was predeceased by: his parents, James Alfred and Ruth Gay Higgs; his sister Susan Bowers; his siblings-in-law, Richard, Etta Mae Blake and Dickey Blake; and his son-in-law Terry George.

He is survived by: his wife Connie Blake (Poobear); his children, Kristine Diane George (late Terry) of Round Rock, Kimberly Ruth Mattingly (Bryan) of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland., Seth, Abby, Kylie, Matthew, Emma, Erin, Gavin, Jordyn, Eli, Noah and Micah; and his siblings-in-law, Dianna and Jerry Smith.
