We are sad to announce that on January 13, 2025, at the age of 94, Ruth Oakes of Potomac, Maryland passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As Ruth departs from our midst, her spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Ruth. Though Ruth may no longer walk beside us, her legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
She was predeceased by: her husband Harold T. Oakes; and her father Stanley Butcher. She is survived by: her mother Ellen Butcher; her sisters, Marjorie Pembery and Pauline Bird; and her nieces, Sharon, Linda and Donna McBride. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and family friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 1st 2025 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Robert A. Pumphrey Funeral Homes, Inc. - Rockville (300 W Montgomery Ave, Rockville, MD 20850). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 1st 2025 at 4:00 PM at the Pumphrey's Colonial Funeral Home (300 W Montgomery Ave, Rockville, MD 20850).
