He was predeceased by: his parents, Lucius Garland and Helen Garland (Stallings); his wife Mary Elizabeth Garland (Wrightsman); his daughter Beverly Fox; his grandson Frank Yonker; his great grandchild Miranda Niland; and his siblings, Wilbur, Ralph, Alfred, Alvin, Melvin, James, Robert Garland, Pearl Snyder, Nola Helmstetter, Nina Shaw and Shirley Heare.
He is survived by: his children, Mary Keller (Gary), Brenda Verno, Peggy Twigg (Richard) and Roger Garland (Kerri); his sister Reba Nelson; and his close friend Jane Borror. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a number of great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, December 5th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Scarpelli Funeral Home (15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown, MD 21502). A memorial service was held on Thursday, December 5th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
