He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Frederick Edward and Helen Bollum (Bucholtz); his close friend Lucy Chang; his children, Thomas Anton Bollum, Jane Elizabeth Bollum, Barbara Burke (Bollum) and Susan Lowe (Bollum); his grandchildren, Michelle Emily Fallis, Christopher Robert Fallis, Emily Jane Harm, Jordan Scott Harm, Kelsey Lynn Bollum and Michael Thomas Bollum; and his sisters, Marcelle Dorthea Straatman (Bollum) and Helen Alberta Fuller (Bollum).
In recent years he had suffered from strokes and the onset of Alzheimer's disease.
