He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Francis O. "Buster" Day Jr. and Alice Marie Whalen Day; his wife Maria; his children, Francis O. "Michael" Day IV and Kristin Ricketts (Brian Ricketts); his granddaughters, Lilly and Minnie; and his sisters, Alice Kelly (Dennis) and Anne McChesney (Dave). He was also cherished by extended family and lifelong friends.

Visitation was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church (9200 Kentsdale Dr, Potomac, MD 20854). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
