With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Walter L. Sykes Jr. (Port Republic, Maryland), whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Linwood Sykes Sr. and Catherine Williams Sykes; and his wife Karen Lavonne Sykes. He is survived by: his children, Jeff Sykes (Meghan) of Edgewater, MD, Jackie Russell (Bill) of Annapolis, MD and Erin Herring (Isaac) of Tuttle, OK; his cousin Bernie Capps of Woodbridge, VA; and his grandchildren, Jack, Caroline, Henry Sykes, Hunter, Madeline Russell, Morgan, Noah, Sam, Jude, Simon and Luke Herring.
Visitation was held on Sunday, April 6th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Kalas Funeral Home (2973 Solomons Island Rd, Edgewater, MD 21037). A funeral service was held on Sunday, April 6th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Sunday, April 6th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Chesapeake Highlands Memorial Gardens (3270 Broomes Island Rd, Port Republic, MD 20676).
