He was predeceased by: his parents, Jeanne Block and Manny Block; his sister Lorraine Rose; and his brother-in-law Stanley Charlow. He is survived by: his wife Frances Charlow Block (Fran); his children, Dr. Joanne Rief (Marshall), Shelley Fowler (Newt) and Larry Block (Lisa); his grandchildren, Erika Hornstein (Jon), Jennifer Fowler, Dr. Colin Fowler, Austin Rief (Talia Schwartz), Jordan Block (Melissa Polin) and Jeremy Block; his great grandchildren, Dalia Hornstein and Idan Hornstein; and his siblings-in-law, Richard Rose and Miriam Charlow.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the Deans Faculty scholarship at University of Maryland School of Dentistry.
