He was predeceased by: his former wife Janice Herd; his parents, George Herd and Ellen Herd; his siblings, Anna Phelps, Vera Grahms, Junior Herd, Nora King, Billy Herd, Josephine King and Leonard Herd; and his stepdaughter Dena Thomas.
He is survived by: his fiancée Gwen Coburn; his children, Robert Herd, Leonard Herd, Melinda Herd and Rosie Haislip; his stepchildren, Charlene Backoff and Frank Coburn; and his sister Irma Faulkner. He is also survived by his 18 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, March 23rd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM and from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Stallings Funeral Home (3111 Mountain Rd, Pasadena, MD 21122). A funeral service was held on Sunday, March 23rd 2025 at 6:00 PM at the same location.
