He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Mildred Virden and Charles Leonard Virden; his children, Michael Charles Virden (Jane), Robert Charles Virden, Jr. (Tehseen), Charles Edward Virden (Ellen) and Laura Lee Kelbaugh Virden (Tim); and his grandchildren, Jordan Menefee, Alexandra Mitchell, Taylor Virden, Blaire Virden, Amanda Kelbaugh, Nicholas Virden, Timothy Kelbaugh, Jr., Chloe Virden, Bradley Virden, Gracie Virden and Bella Virden.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Maryland SPCA or Wounded Warrior Project.
