He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Gunning and Margaret Gunning (Newgirg); his sister Marie Wetters; and his granddaughter Natalie Elizabeth Keleman. He is survived by: his wife Donna Lee Gunning; his daughters, Kathleen Grotton (Jason), Kelly Haugh (Christopher) and Mary Keleman (Joseph); his grandchildren, Brady Gerard, Grace Elizabeth Haugh, Anna Grace and Nicholas Joseph Keleman; and his siblings, Margaret Walega and Martin Edward Gunning, Jr.. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
