He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugenia Mckelvey Smalls and Samuel Brantley Smalls; his wife Nora; his daughter Clarice Nave; his siblings, Johnny Jenkins, Elliot Smalls, Isaac Smalls and Larid Smalls Curtis (Scott-Harlbeck); and his grandchildren, Keyona, Theodore, Eric, Erykah, Tiffany, Steven Jr., Karod and Aria.
He is survived by: his aunt Mary Mckelvey; and his siblings, Marie Bligen, Mary Adelana, Sandi Santani, William Scott, Raymond Smalls (Cynthia), Dexter Smalls (Marcia), Kelvin Smalls and McKelvey Smalls (Gladys).
