He was predeceased by: his parents, James Howard and Ruth Emily Winkler (Adams); and his sister-in-law Diane Winkler. He is survived by: his significant other Pam Faringer; his brothers, Richard Winkler (Jean) and Lemuel Winkler (Kay); his children, Stacy Thompson, Amy and Bradley Winkler; his grandchildren, Lauren, Meghan Thompson, Vincent, Wachter and Oliver Winkler; and his great grandchild Jarrett Cole. He is also survived by 3 nephews and 2 nieces.
