He was loved and cherished by many people including: his former wife Dolly Marks Balkenbush; his parents, Col. Norbert Balkenbush and Margaret Kirby; his grandmother Kirby; his aunt Becky Balkenbush; his wife Wash DC; his siblings, Marcy Nelson, Jerry Balkenbush and David Balkenbush; and also, Louis and Elizabeth P. Balkenbush. He was also cherished by spouses; six nephews and nieces; and ten great nieces and nephews.
