She was predeceased by: her husband James Simonds; her mother Floraine Wilgus; and her stepfather George Wilgus. She is survived by: her children, Sharon Cummins and James Simonds, Jr.; her grandchildren, Robert, James and Allyson Cummins; and her siblings, Paul Tinsley (Tina Tinsley), Doug Tinsley (Brenda Tinsley) and Patricia Lanham (Colin Lanham).

Donations in her name can be made to Chesapeake Church Food Pantry or St. Mary's hospice.
