He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Jane A. Bittner; his children, Jeb Bittner (Lynda), Barbara Bittner, Andy Bittner and Karl Bittner; his grandchildren, Kaitlin (Tony), Lexie, Lindsey Dombert, Al Bittner and Eliza (Greg); and his sister Anne Pendleton.
