He was predeceased by: his parents, George Jacob and Thelma Marie Bonebrake; and his brother Jim Bonebrake. He is survived by: his children, Katie Nugent, Tommy Bonebrake and Nicki (Rudy Couchman); his grandchildren, Kalyn, Liam, Corinne, Benjamin, Clark and Emma; his sisters, Phyllis (Barry Garnand) and Priscilla (Ron Andachter); his uncle Malcom Gowin; and the mothers of children, Bonnie Poole (Katie) and Geri Bonebrake. He is also survived by eight nieces and nephews.

“Hello family of John Bonebrake. I just recently learned of John's passing, having been out of touch with him for many decades. We were co-workers in the Ident division at the Bureau for a few short years in the 70's. I have to say, I am saddened for your loss and send my sincere sympathies to all his family and friends. We met at work and became fast and close friends very quickly. He was a fun, loving and wonderful and I miss him, as I am sure you all do. God Bless you all.”
