In the soft embrace of remembrance, we recall the profound impact Joanne had on those she encountered along her journey. Though Joanne may have slipped beyond the veil of mortality, her essence lingers like a faint fragrance in the air, a lingering reminder of the beauty and complexity of the human experience.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Rankin and Marilyn Rankin; and her son Robert W. Carroll. She is survived by: her boyfriend Harvey Gendleman of Olney; her sons, David Carroll (Peggy) of Frederick and Brent Gendleman (Val) of Bethesda; and her brothers, Jim Rankin (Pat) of Etchison and Jerry Rankin (Terry) of Lovell, Virginia.. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 21st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Roy W. Barber Funeral Home (21525 Laytonsville Rd, Gaithersburg, MD 20882). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 21st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A procession was held on Tuesday, January 21st 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Silver Spring.
