He was predeceased by: his father Clarence R. Barnes, Jr.. He is survived by: his mother Mattie Louise McNeill Barnes; his wife Lillian; his children, Charles A. Barnes (Aisha), Isaiah, Charlie, Orion, Jermain M. Barnes, Zoe and Chyanne; his brother Clarence R. Barnes III (Phelicia); his nieces and nephews, Vincent, Kristopher and Avery; his brother Hassan Barnes (Donna); his nieces and nephews, Telon, Malcolm, John and Arlandria; his brother Valdez Williams (Jennifer); his nieces and nephews, Harper and Jackson; and also, Josiah, Whitney Barnes-Green (Linwood), Ameer, Ayisha Adams (David), David Jr. (Lychelle), Ahmad (Shanya), Jamillah Freeman, Eman Aswadi-Heath (Marcus), Zaiah and Joshua.
Alongside his wife, Lillian, he led as Head Deacon for many years, helping to guide the church through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
