He was predeceased by: his wife Bessie L. Elliott. He is survived by: his children, Michael B. VanLandingham, Sr. of Millersville, MD., Betsy L. Massey (Roger E. Massey) of Tracys Landing, MD. and Deborah J. Embleton of Millersville, MD.; his grandchildren, Melony B. L. Massey and Asa N. Chandler IV; and his great grandchild Lillian "Little Lil" Ryan. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
