He was predeceased by: his parents, Rolla Smith and Dorothy Smith (Sams); and his daughter Melanie Smith. He is survived by: his children, Kevin Smith of Alexandria, VA, Karen Smith Fernandez of Hillsborough, NC and Crandall Smith of Chapel Hill, NC; and his stepchildren, Robert Brunetti, Pamela Brunetti and Nanci Van Ness. He is also survived by six grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
