He was predeceased by: his parents, Florence Sisler (Shaffer) and James Monroe Sisler; his wife Winifred Winona Sisler (Miller); his son James Allen Sisler; and his brothers, Benjamin and Richard Sisler.

He is survived by: his daughters, Debra Sanders (Russell) of Terra Alta, WV, Joyce Ridder (Tom), Jennifer Alexander (Barry) and Terra Alta; his siblings, Sam Sisler, Dave Sisler, Judy Hebb of Oakland and Mary Hall of Oakland; and his grandchildren, Erica Canan, Jason Sanders, Tasha Sanders, Tommy Ridder, Bryan Ridder, Jessica Alexander, Nicole Alexander and Cody Alexander. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
