He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Samuel and June Elizabeth Friend (Phillippi); and his sister Elizabeth Ann Ellis. He is survived by: his brothers, Ronald D. Friend (MaryAnn) of Loch Lynn, MD and Jeffrey L. Friend (Aimee); his nieces and nephews, Leslie, Tracie, Melanie (Lowell), Evan (Amy), Travis (Michelle), Kathy (Alan) and Paul (Brigette); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Zachary, Keegan, Torri, Taylor, Mason and Anna.
