He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Uphold and Letta Uphold; his wife Dora Marie Uphold (Rinker); his brothers, Daley, Roger and Donnie Uphold; and his son-in-law Dan Smith.
He is survived by: his children, Jacqueline Diane Smith of Houston, TX, Edgar Uphold Jr. (Cheryl) of Oakland, MD, Lance Uphold of Mt. Storm, WV and Roy "Tiny" Uphold (Kimberly) of Oakland, MD; his sister Shirley "Sis" Brown; and his grandchildren, Wendy Smith, Joel Uphold, Jordan Uphold, Brianne Perez (Tim), Joshua Uphold (Kayla), Shayla Uphold and Jasmine Uphold. He is also survived by three great grandchildren; and two step great grandchildren.
Donations may be made to the Gorman Volunteer Fire Department or to Hospice of Garrett County.
