He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel C. Goshorn and Mary Conick Goshorn; and his brother Donald L. Goshorn. He is survived by: his children, Sarah E. Goshorn, John and Zachary Goshorn; and his siblings, Doris Bolt, Sandra Jewell, Mary Ellen Shanner (Lechner), Frances Goshorn Berkeley, Evelynn Zupko, Samuel C. Goshorn, William A. Goshorn and Ray E. Goshorn.

“Sorry to hear of John's death. We worked together at the Census Bureau for about 2 decades. He was a friend as well as a co-worker. He loved his family and his gardening. I think he enjoyed both to the fullest and went up to our Maker as someone satisfied with his life. He always marveled at how far this "poor sharecropper's son" had gotten, but appreciated his parents for giving all of you an honest and great start.”
