She was predeceased by: her parents, Arthur Edelen and Catherine Edelen (Kate); her husband James Colbert; her children, Catherine Browner, Caroline Cooper and Melvin Colbert; her grandsons, Tracy Colbert and Robert Cooper (Bobby); and her siblings, Inez Dorsey, Evelyne Butler, Alfreda Edelen (Mose Edelen) and Robert Edelen.
She is survived by: her daughter Joyce Colbert; her stepdaughter Elvina Barnes; and her son Jesse Colbert. She is also survived by grandchildren and great grandchild whom she adored, nieces, nephews and as well as a host of relatives and friends.
The family is requesting in lieu of flowers that a donation be made to the Dementia Society of America. It's a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit charity serving the nation for all causes of Dementia.
