With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Jacob F. Altvater of New Windsor, Maryland, born in Frederick, Maryland, who passed away on December 29, 2020 at the age of 89. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob F. Altvater Sr. and Lydia Staub Altvater; his sons, Alan D. and David Altvater; and his siblings, Lydia Giesbert, Catherine Black, Charlotte Boone and Richard Altvater.
He is survived by: his spouse Shirley Fox Altvater; his children, Dean Altvater of New York City and Joyce Hibberd (Granville) of New Windsor; his nieces, Gloria Farver (Gene) of Westminster, Lydia Sexton (Richard) of Texas, Catherine Roop (Preston) of Walkersville and Bonnie Clabaugh (Bob) of Thurmont; and his nephew Paul Giesbert (Brenda) of Missouri.
Wearing of masks, social distancing and limiting the number of people in the funeral home at any one time will be in effect for both the visitation and funeral service.
