He was predeceased by: his parents, Elaine Smith (Pogonski) and Anthony J. Eckhardt. He is survived by: his wife Lisa Matthews Eckhardt; his stepsons, Richard B. Matthews, Jr., David G. Matthews and Brian Matthews; his stepfather Dave Smith; and his mother-in-law Nina Bittrolff.
