He was predeceased by: his parent Elvin Andrew Howard; his wife Rose "Jerri" Howard; and his siblings, Elizabeth Ferguson, Bob Howard, Irene Coleman and Phyllis Dorcas.

He is survived by: his parent Mamie Howard (Duvalle); his son Leonard "Butch" Howard (Christine Anne) of Olney, MD; and his grandchildren, John M. Howard and Sara N. Howard.
