He was predeceased by: his wife Janet Marie Shinnick; and his parents, Larry R. Shinnick and Sylvia Smyth Shinnick. He is survived by: his children, Lorraine Sexton of Mt. Airy, Richard Shinnick, Jr. (Lori) of Olney and Lynn Paul (Shaun) of Mt. Airy; his grandchildren, Taylor Sexton, Jeffrey Sexton, Zachary Sexton, Steven Paul and Kelly Paul; his great grandchildren, Ella Sexton and Aubrey Sexton; his sister Barbara Fitzurka of Bowie; and his sister-in-law Nancy Britton (Kenny) of North Carolina. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Stauffer Funeral Home-Mt. Airy (8 E Ridgeville Blvd, Mt Airy, MD 21771). A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the St. Michael Poplar Springs Catholic Church (1125 St Michaels Rd, Mt Airy, MD 21771). A Mass was held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Michael's Catholic Church.
