He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Melcavage and Eileen Wilson McHargue; and his granddaughter Amber Jones. He is survived by: his wife Kathy Melcavage; his daughter Nancy Jones (John Mastromanolis); his granddaughter Tory Jones; and his sister Evelyn Syski (Witold).

“Frank was my self defense instructor when I was in the Baltimore City Police Academy class of 82-5. He was a very good instructor and a gentleman. I am sorry to hear of his passing - he touched my life. I am now a police chief in Pennsylvania and still remember some of the lessons that he taught me.”
