He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifford Knippenburg and Mary Knippenburg (James); his son John Clifford Knippenburg; his brothers, William "Carlton" Knippenburg (Ruby) and Ormond Knippenburg; and his sister-in-law Terry Knippenburg.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Knippenburg; his daughter Bobbie Ann Kirkwood (Steve); his grandchildren, Cady Kirkwood Rankin (Charles) and Tyler Robert Kirkwood; and his brother Harold Knippenburg.
At the request of the family memorial donations may be made in memory of Robert "Knip" to the Midland Fire Company at 14823 Broadway St. SW, Midland, MD 21532.
