She was predeceased by: her parents, James Clinton Smith, Sr. and Mary Louise Smith (Morrison). She is survived by: her sons, David Lee Gates, Jr. of Mechanicsville, MD and James Philip Gates, Sr. of Mechanicville, MD. She is also survived by grandchildren; two (2) great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
