John Nelson Sr. Obituary
We bid farewell to John Nelson Sr. of Mechanicsville, Maryland, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on December 4, 2024 at the age of 81. John touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Parran Nelson, Sr. and Agnes Kathleen Nelson (Ryan); his wife Anita Nelson; and his siblings, Joan Ryce (Tommy), Pete Nelson, Michael "Mickey" Nelson (Liz) and Terry Lee Nelson (Barbara).
He is survived by: his children, John Nelson, Jr. (Jeri) of Leonardtown, MD, Steven Nelson of Chaptico, MD and Stacey Payne (Jason) of Clements, MD; his siblings, Shirley Vallandingham (Francis), Francis "Rod" Nelson, Clyde "Corky" Nelson (Gayle), Sandra Caywood (George), James "Buck" Nelson (Lorraine) and Donald "Donnie" Nelson (Sandy); and his grandchildren, Randall Nelson, Jackie Nelson, Tyler Nelson, Lauren Nelson, Kensley Nelson, Kai Nelson, Waylon Payne, Courtney Hauk and Aaron Mills. He is also survived by six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, December 10th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home (41590 Fenwick St, Leonardtown, MD 20650). A prayer was held on Tuesday, December 10th 2024 at 7:00 PM at the Gardiner Funeral Home (41590 Fenwick St, Leonardtown, MD 20650). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, December 11th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home (41590 Fenwick St, Leonardtown, MD 20650).
