He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles W. Freeland and Frieda Dandy Freeland; and his brother Charles Freeland (Bud). He is survived by: his wife Debra Peeling Freeland; his daughter Jenifer R. Russell (Jeffrey) of Lewes, Delaware; his sister Joan Wernz of Cockeysville; and his grandson Ethan Schoap of Lewes. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society – Soft Tissue Sarcoma.
