David McJonathan wrote a sympathy message

“It is with profound regret that we acknowledge the passing of Chet. His second wife Annette and he were my late wife Cindy and my favorite couple with whom to spend time. Often we would meet at Mountain Gate in Waynesboro which is now Keystone Country Kitchen. One of the first things he would do would be to count how many deserts there were to choose from. With a Twinkie in his eye, he loved to announce the number and if it was more than the previous visit.”
