He was predeceased by: his parents, John Walter and Mildred Walter; his son Ronald Walter; his sister Carol Fischer; and his grandsons, Jacob and Griffin Walter.
He is survived by: his wife Maria Rosa Walter; his son Steve Walter of Lothian, MD; his stepsons, Stephen Phillips of St. Petersburg, FL, Christopher Phillips of Anacortes, WA and Anthony Phillips of Vancouver, BC; his siblings, Dennis Walter of Smithburg, MD, Joan Brittan of Myrtle Beach, SC and Darlene Spadaro of Mayo, MD; his daughters-in-law, Maria-Sieh Walter and Wilseydee Walter; his grandchildren, Vincent, Joey, Holly, Isabel and Sophie Walter; and his stepgrandchildren, Nicholas Sieh, Alec and Taylor Phillips. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
